Tuesday 10 March - Sydney – Dubai

Depart Sydney on Emirates flight departing Sydney 9.45pm via Dubai to Cairo

Wednesday 11 March - Dubai - Cairo Welcome to Cairo

Welcome to Egypt! Upon arrival into Cairo airport, you are met by your Egyptian Travel Director and transferred to your hotel where the remainder of the afternoon is free to relax and settle in.

Thursday 12 March - Fly to Luxor, Cruise the Nile

Fly to Luxor and visit the huge temple complex of Karnak. Walk through the avenue of ramheaded sphinxes to stand among the columns of the Hypostyle Hall. Transfer to your cruise ship. After lunch on-board, visit Luxor Temple which was unearthed by Mariette in the 1860s.

Friday 13 March - Valley of the Kings to Edfu

Travel by air-conditioned coach to the west bank of the Nile to see the Colossi of Memnon, and visit both the Temple of Hatshepsut and Valley of the Kings, where many pharaohs were buried. Visit a working bakery and witness the local artisans making authentic Egyptian bread. Return to your cruise boat and sail via the Esna Lock to Edfu.

Saturday 14 March - From the Temple of Horus to Aswan

Visit the Temple of Horus at Edfu, dedicated to the Falcon God. Sail to Kom Ombo to visit the only temple in Egypt dedicated to the two gods, crocodile-headed Sobek and falcon-headed Horus the Elder, then continue on to Aswan. In the evening, don your traditional Egyptian attire called galabeyas, for a fun-filled Egyptian dinner and galabeya party.

Sunday 15 March - Aswan’s High Dam and Nile Felucca

In the morning, visit the Aswan High Dam and Granite Quarries to see the enormous Unfinished Obelisk. Travel by motorboat to the Temple of Isis, rising from the waters of the Nile on the Island of Philae. Later, on a traditional Nile Felucca, meet a sailor and learn the art of sailing this ancient craft. As the sun starts to fade, enjoy colonial-style high tea at the historic Old Cataract

Monday 16 March/ Aswan and Back to Cairo

In the morning, we take an excursion to Abu Simbel to visit the fabulous reconstructed temples of Ramses II and Nefertari. Carved out of the rock and late rescued from the rising waters of Lake Nassar. Later, transfer to the airport for your return flight to Cairo for the night.

Tuesday 17 March - The Egyptian Museum and Citadel

This morning begin your city sightseeing with your Egyptologist at the world-famous Egyptian Museum. Starring among its attractions is the amazing treasure recovered from Tutankhamun's tomb. Sightseeing continues at the Citadel where you enjoy breathtaking views over the whole

city. Salah El-Din started the Citadel in the 12th century, but it owes its present outline to Mohammed Ali, whose Great Alabaster Mosque is the next stop. Later, you will have free time to enjoy as you wish. In the evening, get to know your Travel Director and fellow guests over a Welcome Drink at the hotel. Afterwards, take your seats at the magical Sound & Light Show at the Great Pyramids which literally illuminates the history of Giza - an unforgettable introduction to the world of ancient Egypt.

Wednesday 18 March - Great Pyramids of Giza

Gain a deeper understanding of the last remaining Wonder of the Ancient World during a visit to Giza with your Egyptologist. Meet the enigmatic Sphinx crouching at the foot of Chephrenís Causeway and venture inside one of the magnificent pyramids. Nearby lies Memphis, capital of the Old Kingdom, where you can see the colossal statue of Rameses II and the great Alabaster Sphinx. Continue to Sakkara to view the Step Pyramid of Zoser I dating from 2686 B.C., it's the oldest in the world. Enjoy free time in the afternoon.

Thursday 19 March/ Cairo – Amman

Today our memorable Egypt tour ends when we transfer Cairo airport and then our onward flight to Amman flight time is approx. 1hr 15min Welcome to the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan, a landscape that has changed little in the last 2000 years. On arrival at Amman Airport you are met by your Jordanian Travel Director and transferred to your hotel. Later we enjoy dinner and drinks at our hotel.

Friday 20 March - Exploring Amman and Jerash

Start your day with an Amman city tour, visiting the Citadel Hill, huge Roman Amphitheatre and Archaeological Museum. Depart for Iraq Al Amir, for a visit to the Women’s Association to see the fantastic work they are doing providing training and work opportunities for women in the region. The Association is supported by Insight through The Treadright Foundation. Then, the journey to Jerash reveals the most beautifully preserved example of a Greco-Roman city still in existence. Enter through Hadrian's Arch, to explore the grand ruins of the Temples of Artemis and Zeus, where you can listen to the Whispering Column. Overlook the vast Oval Plaza and Cardo Maximus, the key Roman road.

Saturday 21 March - Madaba, Mount Nebo and on to Petra

Continue to Mount Nebo, one of the most revered holy sites of Jordan, where Moses stood and saw before him the Promised Land. At Madaba, visit the famous Greek Orthodox Church of St. George with its amazing 6th century mosaic map depicting the entire Holy Land, stretching from Jordan and Palestine in the north, to Egypt in the south. Then head south for one of the highlights of your journey: the UNESCO World Heritage Site of Petra, voted one of the New Seven Wonders of the World.

Sunday 22 March - Exploring the Lost City of Petra

This day is devoted to the beautiful ‘rose-red city, half as old as time'. You enter this lost city through a narrow gorge, the Siq, with walls that rise up to 200 metres. Emerge from the path to see the magnificent Treasury, carved out of solid rock and standing over 40 metres high. Wind your way through the canyon to explore the Roman Amphitheatre, which once seated 3,000 spectators, and the ancient tombs. Tonight, dine with locals at the Ammarin Camp.

Monday 23 March - Wadi Rum with the Bedouin

Head to Wadi Rum – and the spectacular hospitality of the Bedouin on the backdrop of beautiful desert. Enjoy beautiful vistas as you make your way on a jeep safari deep into the heart of Wadi Rum's majestic desert. Dine with locals under the stars and stay in elegant simplicity in a desert camp for the night.

Tuesday 24 March - Wadi Rum – Dead Sea

If you wish, start the day with sunrise yoga at the Bedouin camp. After breakfast, follow the King's Highway to visit Shobak, an authentic 12th century crusader fortress, perched on the side of a rocky mountain, standing guard over a barren and desolate land. Admire the towers and Arabic calligraphy on the external walls before discovering the original Crusader chapel, palace complex, and even a set of secret passages! Later, Transfer to the Dead Sea for its warm, soothing mineral-rich waters. The likes of Cleopatra have luxuriated in its black stimulating mud. Pamper yourself at your resort which offers a wide range of treatments to soothe the body and mind.

Wednesday 25 March - Dead Sea at Leisure

Enjoy the entire day at your leisure. Lying more than 400 metres below sea level, this is Earth's lowest point on dry land. Its famous hypersaline water makes floating easy. The surrounding desert offers many oases and historic sites to explore.

Thursday 26 March - Depart Amman, Amman - Dubai

After breakfast, our memorable journey comes to an end when you are transferred to Amman Airport for your Emirates flight home.
